Ruby-Eyed Tree Frog
Endemic to the mountains in Tanzania’s Eastern Arc chain, the ruby-eyed tree frog is a magnificent frog species with elevated levels of polymorphism. It lays terrestrial eggs and the larvae are aquatic. It is generally found in intermittent freshwater marshes, rivers, and subtropical or tropical montane and moist lowland forests. This wide-eyed world’s cutest frog is threatened by forest degradation especially in unprotected areas of the forest.
